Senior QA Tester

Remote - Raleigh, NC

About Squanch Games:

Since opening our doors in 2016, we've recruited a troop of the most hilariously unique talent the biz has to offer. We're constantly looking to expand our team of incredible people: They're crackin' some jokes, making awesomely strange stuff, and thinking outside the box simultaneously -- that's the "Squanch Factor" if you will.

At Squanch Games, we make dreams come true – the funkiest, bizarrest dreams from the depths of our souls. Real complex stuff, but you probably know what we’re talking about because you’ve already played our games, right? RIGHT? (Hint: YES).

If you see molds and like breaking them, or boxes and enjoy stepping outside of them–ONWARD! Also, if you love working remotely, we're the studio for you.

Think you've got what it takes? Go for it. Seriously! Send us your resume!

Senior QA Tester

What you'll do:

As a Senior QA Tester at Squanch Games, you will work directly with the QA team to log, triage, and regress all bugs. Every day, you will spend time in the build, help define best bug-writing practices, and work with internal and external QA. You’ll be the go-to for mentoring junior QA’s and the conduit between an army of bugs and the brave devs who fix them. But you know that already! You’ve successfully done this role at another studio, and now you’re looking for a role with more fun, creativity, and boots-on-the-ground mentality.

In this role, you will:

  • Perform manual testing on Console and PC throughout development and production phases.
  • Work closely with the QA team and interface with other developers to help find and solve issues.
  • Work with the QA team to log, triage, and regress all bugs, big & small!
  • Provide clear feedback on features, gameplay, progression, traversal, and level flow.
  • Work with outsourced / external QA.
  • Own multiple features in the game, communicating status to the project leads and test team.
  • Create test cases & update them.
  • Be a knowledge base for what works, what is broken, and what rocks about the game right now.
  • Give and take feedback & direction.
    • It’s important to be able to trust and respect our teammates. We’re looking for folks who not only give feedback, but seek it out!

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience developing multiple titles from pre-production through production, including shipping at least 1 title as a QA Tester.
  • Professional experience working in Unreal Engine.
  • Experience logging defects in bug tracking systems such as Jira.
  • Experience with long & short, and big & small project cycles.
  • Comfortable with the tools, language, and process of “finalizing” games.
    • Bonus points if you’re a Cert nerd or you RTFM!
  • An understanding of multiple genres of games, including narrative-focused action / adventure games.
  • Strong knowledge of Unreal, Jira, Confluence, and TestRail.

Benefits:

  • Salary range: $84,000 to $102,000 depending on experience
  • Health, dental & vision insurance
  • Short term & long term disability insurance coverage
  • Paid parental leave
  • 401k and FSA
  • Unlimited PTO & flexible schedule
  • Completely remote studio
  • Stipend to ensure a comfortable work from home setup
  • Monthly snack box
  • Monthly stipend for WFH expenses
